I was so hypnotized by your writing that I just drulled on my desk (groce....). Seriously!! There was a puddle of "babas" next to my keyboard and I was just glad it missed it by half an inch. It's great, Ron. Your description about the porta-potty experience was priceless. Love your descriptive style. It reels me in :)

Love that you included the Mayan TRIcycle. I was lucky to get to play on that the day before it was shut down. Tesla, wisely, stopped short of the threshold and decided to just watch us spin it, once again proving children's instincts are hard to beat in BRC.

At least some members of Media Mecca think that this is ridiculous too. ("I mean, seriously, we have 50,000 people here blogging on Facebook!")

This originated back in the early days when some douchebags made a 'Girls of Burning Man Gone Wild!' video. It was recognized to be a problem, so Media Mecca was formed to approve all media representations of the event. There are some very nice people working in Media Mecca, but also some very paranoid overly-fanatical bulldogs. (For example, Chino Loco actually got an email from Media Mecca claiming "Nudity is prohibited at Burning Man". Ha!)

The situation has been made worse this year by Pershing County, which is trying to extort the Burning Man organization and has threatened to begin fining people for displays of inappropriate dress or sexual activity, and to ban children from the event. It's all ridiculous.

It is fascinating how they allow you to enter into their world. So much to see outside of our own doors. The pics are beautiful and the dance was done with such a ritualistic character that I also want to stand up and do a dance myself...thanks for sharing.
